The Descendants
of Layton Long and Rebecca Jane Gibson

This is how the
first family reunion started in 1953 as related by Rachel Long Walley:
I (Rachel M. Long Walley) was visiting at
(brother) Ben Long's, and we decided it was a shame that we didn't
know more about our relatives. If we had just thought of it while
Daddy, Adam Long, was still alive.
But we didn't, so in 1953, I (Rachel) invited as
many as I could to come to our home in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania,
intending to go to the Park. But the day was not so promising, and
looked like rain, so we just had a buffet lunch at the house.
Those who came, were all
descendants of Adam Long,
except Mary Kay who is the daughter of Annie Long Flick. They were:
Ben and Effie Long, Clarence and Katherine Brannigan and son Tommy
and Clarence's mother, all from Greensburg. Roland and Eunice Long
from Hagerstown MD. My brother Stephen Long brought our son and family
from Cincinnati. They were Arthur P. Walley and wife Jessie Ruth, and
children Fred, Patty, June and Mary Ruth. Our other children Jane and
Russel Bower and Pete, Ann Wolosencuk, Pete Jr., John and Jim.

What to bring to the
Reunion:
Please bring a covered dish.
Bring something that is relative to where you live for the Auction this
year.
New
Quilt blocks are due this year. The Quilt block should be 14 x 14
inches, and you should work within 13 x 13 inches or less. Let the
block tell a story about your family, where you live, or something you
enjoy. If we don't get enough new Quilt blocks, we will extend the
project until the next reunion.
